Activities For DogsOne Day I was driving into town. I seem to do my best thinking while driving. I was thinking about dogs of course and my mind just naturally wondered about until it landed on all the avenues a dog owner now has to choose from. There is a long list of new places to take your dogs, things to buy for your dogs and special amenities just for dogs. You can go to a Dog Hospital, Dog Specialist, Designer Dog Boutiques, Doggie Day Care, Doggie Spas, Dog Bakeries, Dog Outdoor Parks, Dog Trainers, Dog Whisperers, Dog Psychics. I am sure there are many more that I have simply forgotten to add.
You can take your pet to a restaurant that caters just to dogs or there are many that you can bring your pet with you when you go out to eat. One customer I spoke to recently wanted a special matching rhinestone collar and leash for when her puppy accompanies her when she goes to her favorite restaurant. Hotels are now providing special dog beds, dog dishes and treats when you bring your dog with you. There are some that even provide dog massages and you can hire dog sitters for when you want to go out without your pet.
You can throw a special birthday party for your puppy on their special day, your dog can have a large wedding (complete with dog wedding gowns), there are formal dog dresses that are fancier than most of my clothes. This is somthing most of us pet lovers try not to think about but you can now lay your precious pooch to rest in a luxurious caskets or put their remains in a special urn after cremation. There are Pet Cemetaries (forgive me Stephen King) where you can put up a stone for your pet’s grave and then visit whenever you want.
There are dog therapists, dog trainers, dog walkers, dog sitters, dog stylists, dog whisperers, dog masseurs. You can buy special exercise equipment now to keep your dog in shape. You can purchase designer pet furniture and food dishes to coordinate with your home decor. I read today about pet homes that you can purchase from a realtor that are specially decorated to suit your tastes and look good alongside your home.
Personally I love it. I dress my family of Yorkies in clothes and they have their own beds and special food. They are a big part of our lives and I love to spoil them as much as everyone else. I may not have as much money to lavish on them as some people do but in every way possible I treat them special.
So you may be like me in wondering what could be coming next. After giving it some thought I decided that a church for dogs should be given serious consideration. We spoil our pets in every other way, why do we not care about their spiritual condition and where they will spend their afterlife? There are so many possibilities for names for the churches, there could be a Protestant Pup Church or a St. Fido Cathedral. Maybe we could have a church where you could bring your pet with you to worship. I like that one the best. I take mine almost everywhere else with me, why not to church too!
